Name: Mi-Lin Tham
After graduating form Huddersfield University in Media and Television Production in 2008, I have been working freelance with ITV Granada in Manchester as a Runner and an Audience Host in numerous studio productions. These include Mastermind (BBC); Battle of the Brains (BBC), Countdown (C4), Jeremy Kyle Show (ITV) and The Feel Good Factor (ITV)
Previous experience has included working on a casual contract with BBC Manchester and other experience of working as a Production assistant, runner, camera operator and a presenter at ITV Yorkshire and small independent companies.
Landing on the ITV/Screen Yorkshire Foundation Placement Scheme has given me a 12 months placement working at Bradford Foyer as a Media Productions
Co-ordinator. I am heavily involved in running a Community Film School where my jobs vary considerably on a daily basis. This allows me to gain as much as experience as I can whilst at the Foyer, with additional support from ITV/Screen Yorkshire.
By the end of the placement I would like to see the establishment of the Community Film School. However it’s all about the learners, whether they pursue to have an ambition to work in the media, or gaining transferable skills to take with them into other employment or simply using media as a recreational basis. The uniqueness of this position is being able to have a positive impact on these young people.
