Matt O’Brien
Matt has been working in the media industry for 6 years. During this time he has gained a great deal of experience in a variety of roles in not only film, but radio and T.V. also. Midway through those 6 years, whilst on hiatus in Thailand, he taught English to students in particularly poor areas of the country for a year. Matt then lived in London for a year working in a variety of roles; including as a production assistant at a radio station before moving to Leeds. As part of the Foundation Placement Scheme at ITV, Matt is now one of the first dedicated Media Production Coordinator’s at The Bradford Foyer.
Matt is working with Mi-Lin at the Foyer to build the Community Film School from scratch over the next twelve months. The purpose of the film school is to help the students gain transferable skills that will set them in good stead when applying for jobs, whatever they may be.
Matt says, ‘Even if the students do not necessarily want to go on to work in the media, the skills they will have gained from working in a film/T.V. crew will be a great foundation on which they can build.’
